PROGRAM:
Today’s program consisted of the next round of reviews of funding requests from our 2019-20 annual budget. Gwenn and Gary introduced the form at both at a Wednesday and a Thursday meeting and explained the concept of having every member understand and vote on their degree of support as guidance for the board.
Copies of the specific requests were e-mailed to all members in advance. And hard copies for today’s review and voting were distributed, executed and collected by Gary and Gwenn.
Gwenn Carr opened with a discussion about the $12,000 request in support of the Northwestern Snack Pack program. This program is operated by the Lowhill Food Pantry folks with no Rotarians nor Interact students helping to assemble or distribute the packs. And a meeting last week confirms the group is not seeking that kind of help.
Jeff Kistler observed that this is a good end result. It means that the program is self-sufficient except for a possible donation of funds. Bill Palmer suggested we no longer operate under the Rotary Community Corps auspices, since no Rotarians are involved.
Next Bill Weber reviewed a request for $2,000 for a Youth Exchange student’s support.
And John Scott discussed a $1,200 request to support the children’s Bike Works project.
The members did their weighted voting of all three requests. These will be added to those from the Thursday evening group.
CLOSING:
Pres. Amir suggested that we continue to pray for our Rotary family. He closed our meeting by our reciting the saying “One profits most who serves best.”
